About Buck's Place

Assateague Surfishing

Buck's Place was established in 1979 by my grandparents Buck and Mary Brown.

My Grandfather was born in PA and moved to Ocean City with his family when he was eight years old. My Grandmother was born here in the Ocean City area (Cambelltown).

I was six years old when my grandparents bought the store and ever since I can remember I wanted the store to be mine. I spent most of my summers working at the store.

My Mom, Marcia Helms, Aunt Margo Barker, and Uncle Marc & Aunt Lisa Brown have worked with my grandparents through the years. My grandparents dog Freemont was the mascot of Buck's for over ten years.

In 1997 my husband Chris Rogers and I leased the store and purchased it in 1998. On March 20, 2000 I lost my husband in a car accident. He loved fishing and hunting and was great at both. The last seven years have had a lot of ups and downs. I lost my path for awhile, but thanks to all my family especially my in laws, Donald and Mabel Rogers, and friends who didn't give up on me I know I am where I love to be.
